Eat, Drink and be Crafty

Eat, Drink and be Crafty, 29th Jan 2011, Battle Hill Farm Forest Park.

Chloe Jansen and Melanie Maddock are two young local crafters whipping up a crafting storm this Summer. In an unsuccessful search for the perfect mix of top quality craft and gourmet food all at one market, Chloe, 23 and Melanie, 27 put their heads together and came up with Eat, Drink and be Crafty, Wellington's fresh new farm-style chic market. To top it all off they came across Battle Hill Farm Forest Park in their search for the perfect location, offering it's beautiful open space farm setting.

Chloe, a graphic designer by trade also creates off beat, funky one-of-a-kind home wares and a gorgeous jewellery range; and Melanie, a soapmaker and massage therapist with her own successful home business are both featured in local craft fairs and markets around Wellington. "Being involved in some of Wellington's markets, we were both really blown away by the amazing quality of other crafters".

Life Flight NZ is Eat, Drink and be Crafty's official charity and depending on weather and rescues the Westpac Rescue Helicopter will be on site at Battle Hill to promote public awareness and do a bit of fundraising. The kids can have a look through the helicopter and meet the crew for a photo opportunity. Some of the Stall holders have come on board as well and are donating a percentage of their earnings from the day to Life Flight - "Look out for the 'Charity Stall' signs"

There will also be live storytelling, face painting and a merry-go-round for the kids, and some great old kiwi games like gumboot throwing and sack races, so the whole family can join in. Plus two live bands playing throughout the day and fantastic gourmet food and refreshments. Just a 5 minute drive from the lovely Pauatahanui Village, there is loads of parking on site, just bring along some gold coins to drop in the bucket for Life Flight.

Fair Open 10am till 4pm, Saturday 29th Jan 2011
Battle Hill Farm Forest Park, Paekakariki Hill Road, Pauatahanui, Wellington
