Motutapu concert sees biggest crowd on island in 100 years Organisers of the Live at the Islands concert on Motutapu on Saturday say they are thrilled with the large turnout.
“Our aim was to get people using and appreciating some of the stunning locations we have in New Zealand” says co-director Jackie Sanders, “in our first year to have 3000 people arrive on ferries, private boats and kayaks was just glorious and a sight not seen at Motutapu since the picnics of the early 1900’s”
The event raised funds and awareness for The Motutapu Restoration Trust who are working to restore the island to its full glory. The concerts for conservation continue next Saturday with Live at the Gardens featuring Mark Seymour (formerly of Hunters & Collectors) and James Reyne (formerly of Australian Crawl) at Hamilton Gardens. Tickets are still available at www.ticketmaster.co.nz
