Grammy Winners Lady Antebellum To Play New Zealand

Grammy Winners Lady Antebellum To Play New Zealand Show!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday 1st March, 2011

Chugg Entertainment announces today that in the wake of their Grammy success, Lady Antebellum will be playing one very special performance on Monday 18th April at The Civic in Auckland. Following a run of dates around Australia with Keith Urban, this will be the tuneful trio from Nashville, Tennessee’s first ever visit to New Zealand.

Following the band’s incredible success at the Grammy Awards last week, the single ‘Need You Now’ (which also appeared in the hit show Glee to 1.1million viewers), has hit #5 on the NZ Singles Chart as well as #1 on the Airplay chart. Better still, the album, ‘Need You Now’ debuted at #1 in NZ and is currently just shy of reaching Platinum sales.

Lady Antebellum ended an emotional night at the 53rd Annual GRAMMY Awards as the big winners, taking home five awards. The group snagged the awards for the highly coveted Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Performance by a Duo or Group and Country Song of The Year for their smash hit ‘Need You Now’ as well as Country Album of the Year for the US triple PLATINUM ‘Need You Now.’

“We’re still just soaking it in,” said Hillary Scott. “It was a huge night, and we may even still be in shock!”

In 2006 Charles Kelley (lead & background vocals), Dave Haywood (background vocals, guitar, piano, mandolin) and Hillary Scott (lead and background vocals) came together and a rich tapestry of family connections and music industry ties were formed. Trying to become a successful solo country artist, Kelley convinced his old school friend, Haywood, to move to Nashville so they could write music together. Not long after this, Scott met Kelley at a Nashville music club and soon the trio spent the summer as song-writing partners. After performing a few of the newly-penned songs, it became evident they had stumbled upon something bigger and Lady Antebellum was born. The name Antebellum coming from the antebellum architectural style which describes the large plantation homes in the American South.
