Tua De Force Iii – Exclusive, Live and Free-to-Air on Maori Television!
New Zealand’s national indigenous broadcaster, Māori Television, presents exclusive, live and free-to-air coverage of David ‘Tuamanator’ Tua’s first fight since last year’s shock draw with Monte Barrett and subsequent shoulder surgery.
Currently ranked number two by the World Boxing Organisation (WBO), the 38-year-old Samoan strongman fights American Demetrice King, 25, in a 12-round title bout at the Genesis Theatre, TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre, South Auckland on March 19.
The bout has been dubbed “The Backyard Brawl", as it will take place in Tua's home turf of the last 30 years. Promoter Inga “The Winger” Tuigamala, a former All Black, says Tua is genuinely excited about fighting for a home crowd: “It means the world to David. That’s where it all started for him in the 80s … he’s looking forward to seeing some familiar faces in the crowd.”
Commentators for TUA DE FORCE III TUA V KING: THE BACKYARD BRAWL are Australian former boxing champ Barry Michael and sportscaster Dale Husband, with Trevor Shailer, Te Arahi Maipi and Tamati Tiananga presenting. Entertainment between bouts includes hip-hop artist Savage, R&B sensation J. Williams and nine-piece reggae band Sweet & Irie.
Stay home for a mean night out… TUA DE FORCE III TUA V KING: THE BACKYARD BRAWL – exclusive, live and free-to-air on Maori Television Saturday 19 March from 8.00PM to11.00PM.
