BENFITZ Canvas for Quake Victims at Long Bay Beach

Long Bay beach will play host to a novel fund raising event for the people of quake-affected Christchurch this Sunday.

The BENFITZ Canvas for Quake Victims aims to raise money while providing a fun day out for families and businesses.

How it works is children and adults can come along and buy a piece of canvas for either $5 or $10 to paint, decorate, write a message or do what they want with, for the people of Christchurch.

Benefitz, who are organising the event, will then sew them all together and ship it down along with all the proceeds to Christchurch to show our support.

Benefitz will provide all the art supplies, from paints & brushes to crayons and markers, as well as the canvas that people will be decorating.

“It's ideal for all ages as the young babies can leave a hand or foot print and adults can write a heart felt message if they aren't artisticly inclind,” says event organiser Karen McKinlay.

Companies can even have their logo printed and inserted for $100.

Mad Butcher Albany has also donated 300 sausages for a BBQ to help with the fundraising efforts.

“I hope everyone shares in my passion for this project because it's such a worthwhile cause and we could do with the publicity because the more people that join us the bigger difference we can make!”

Benefitz is a North Shore based advertising, design and printing business who is very involved in the community. This is an initiative put together by members of their 70-strong team.
