SBS Bank Southland on Show Youth Ambassador proud rep

MEDIA RELEASE

SBS Bank Southland on Show Youth Ambassador proud rep

Local wood chopping world champion Robert Dowling has another great achievement to add to his already impressive list after being named the SBS Bank Southland on Show Youth Ambassador at the recent annual event.

No stranger to the local show scene, Robert will be even more involved behind the scenes during the next 12 months as a committee representative. In May he will get the feel and vibe of further show activities during a visit to Southland A & P's ‘Sister Show,’ at Dubbo, New South Wales.

SBS Bank Southland on Show president Barry Macdonald said Robert had a long-standing involvement with the Southland A & P Association and has been involved in their wood chopping events since he was just eight.

“In recent years Robert became the Head Show Wood Chopping Official and if we team that up with his title of being the Double-Handed Sawing World Champion, he certainly has wonderful credentials and a wealth of show-related experience to bring on board over the coming year.

“While Robert is a keen and able sportsman and has represented New Zealand in both wood chopping and rugby his key role during the coming year is to join the planning committee and be part of the Youth Committee,” Mr Macdonald said.
“We’re now in our sixth year running the Youth Ambassador programme and all past winners have found the experience rewarding. Young people are the future of our show and it's great to give them an incentive to become involved.”
