Kiwis Love A Home-Made Brew

Kiwis Love A Home-Made Brew

Kiwis have taken this flavoursome breakfast tea to our hearts – and to our breakfast tables. Twinings New Zealand Breakfast Tea is here to stay by popular demand.

Early last year, Twinings asked the New Zealand public to help them find a tea blend that captured the essence of a perfect New Zealand Breakfast brew.

Tea-lovers from around the country mixed and matched Twinings loose leaf teas, to create their own unique Kiwi combination. An expert judging panel of tea connoisseurs from around the country sipped through hundreds of entries, and after much ‘tealiberation’, a distinctive brew by Andrew Fenemor of Nelson was chosen as the winner of the Twinings New Zealand Breakfast Tea Challenge.

Tenth generation Twining, Stephen, described Andrew’s brew as “brilliantly unique”, and a stand out amongst hundreds of entries.

“It was clear that he had put a lot of time in to it,” said Twining. “This resulted in a taste which I believe will soon become a breakfast table staple across New Zealand.”

Little did Stephen know just how right he was! Though it was originally intended as a limited time offer, the Kiwi-made New Zealand Breakfast Tea has enjoyed such steaming hot success that it has been made a permanent addition to the Twinings range.

Fenemor is really pleased with his tea’s quick rise to popularity. “I spent six weeks testing my blend with friends and family. I wanted to create a blend that could be enjoyed throughout the day, but especially at breakfast,” he says.

“I’m really happy that it has proven to be so popular,” he continues. “Kiwis can obviously relate to the benefits of a really stellar cup of tea.”

Twinings New Zealand Breakfast Tea will continue to be available at all good outlets where Twinings is stocked, nationwide.
