A wop bop a loola, a wop bam boom!

MEDIA RELEASE – April, 2011

A wop bop a loola, a wop bam boom!

Tom Sharplin and his band join award-winning Operatunity in a national “Rock around the 50’s” tour launching late April.

Operatunity’s own Geoffrey Hughes will join Karen Davy – the singing sister of our furiously fast fiddler Marian Burns – alongside New Zealand’s “Mr Rock n Roll” Tom Sharplin and his band members Bruce French, Ray Eade, and Peter Wood.
Sharplin says his peers have spoken highly of this entertainment company with its professionalism and talent.

“Myself and band are really excited to be joining Operatunity with our up and coming show around New Zealand,” he says.

“Our audiences are certain of having a great time with music that will take you back to the fun days of the 50’s Rock n Roll, with some laughs along the way.”
It’s not the first time Tom Sharplin has appeared on-stage with Geoffrey Hughes either.

The stars are reunited after performing together over 25 years ago in the Auckland Theatre production of ‘Grease’ the Rock n Roll musical, where they performed alongside international movie star Russell Crowe.
Operatunity invites audiences to dress-up and join the fun, as the 50’s is a fabulous decade for fun, happy music that you really can’t sit still listening to.

Tickets are just $28 including lunch with the artists, with further discounts available for group or concession bookings.

Operatunity will visit 25 venues from Whangarei to Invercargill with its “Rock around the 50’s” tour, starting April 26.
