SUBWAY® Pro Cycling team primed for club nationals

SUBWAY® Pro Cycling team primed for performing at club nationals

4 May 2011

Tough recent racing at the Tour de Korea will have four riders from the SUBWAY® Pro Cycling primed for performing at this week’s RaboDirect National Club Championships that start in Wanganui tomorrow.

Matt Gorter, Sam Horgan and Nick Lovegrove all played important roles in helping their SUBWAY® Pro Cycling team mate Paul Odlin win the sprinters classification at the gruelling Asian tour event that finished late last month.

The four riders are joined by Invercargill based Dillion Bennet at this week’s national event. Bennett has been in good form recently winning the senior time trial and road race titles at the Southland Championships and won the John Machejefski Memorial handicap race in Hokitika two weeks ago.

Horgan mirrored Bennett’s performance also winning the senior time trial and road race titles at last month’s Canterbury Championships.

SUBWAY® Pro Cycling’s General Manager Hayden Godfrey said the team rode “very well in Korea and should be flying this week.”

“Sam in particular will be one of the favourites in the time trial and so long as they’ve recovered well the boys should all have good legs for the road race.”

“Paul rode very well and was really strong in Korea and should be carrying that form into this week’s racing.”
