A Lotto Long-Distance Family Love
While hundreds of thousands flocked to Britain to catch a glimpse of the Royal family recently, one Taranaki great grandmother has decided to use her $333,333 Lotto First Division prize to head over to Blighty to see a different family member – her sister.
“I’m so excited, as I’ve only seen her twice in 52 years – with my win, I can finally afford to go back!” says the elated winner.
The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, purchased her ticket at Blagdon Four Square in New Plymouth.
“I came out to New Zealand in the Child Migration Scheme in 1952 and the first time I got to see her was 49 years after we had been separated,” says the winner.
“It’s always been too expensive for me to visit her again, but this prize will allow me to spend some quality time with her and have a mini family reunion,” says the happy winner.
The winner, who is still in a state of disbelief over her recent financial windfall, plans on spending the rest of her winnings on property and investments.
“I don’t own my own home and to have my own little place will be fantastic!” says the winner.
Meanwhile, Lotto will be spoiling mothers all over New Zealand by giving away 100 extra prizes of cars and cash this weekend. All players who purchase a Lotto Triple Dip ticket between Sunday 24 April 2011 and 7pm on Saturday 7 May 2011 will be in with the chance to win one of the 100 exciting prizes.
