BATS: The Musical?
It's been a massive week at BATS, with three hit shows
and some pumping nights in the bar. We are all bracing
ourselves for the final week of comedy madness!
We are stoked to be welcoming comedy favourite Steve Wrigley tomorrow with the opening of Kevin: The Musical. It's Steve's first time performing at BATS so make sure you get down to see history in the making. Kevin has had wicked reviews in its Auckland season, and really...who doesn't love a good musical?
Two sketch comedy shows make up the rest of the programme this week - Idiots and Public Service Announcements. If you like your comedy a bit silly, or a bit political then one (or both) of these shows is for you!
And I am really excited about the debut of Arthur Meek's new play Sheep next week. I have been along to a couple of development workshops this year and it is a compelling piece of work. We are also welcoming the crazy design stylings of Dan Williams (Mr Marmalade, Jeff Koons) back to BATS, and he has some wicked things in mind for the show. Will be worth checking out for that I'm sure! Some performances are already booked out, so make sure you don't miss this stunning NZ premiere.
In other great theatre offers, check out Death and the Dreamlife of Elephants at Downstage and The Lead Wait at Circa. Both shows started their lives as STAB commissions at BATS, and it was great to see these exciting, haunting shows back onstage again this weekend. Not to be missed!
See you at the theatre!
