Stratos Highlights for June 5 - June 18 2011

As we welcome in the winter season Stratos Television heats up, changing its programme schedule to serve up more of your favourite programmes.

Due to popular demand Stratos Television has brought back Australia News at the earlier time of 5pm followed by Euromaxx at 5:30pm every weeknight. The PBS news hour takes a break on Monday nights to be replaced by back to back episodes of two of Al Jazeera's best current affairs shows. At 6:30pm is the interview series 'One on One' which takes an in-depth look at today's major influencers. Then at 7pm 'People and Power' returns and kicks off with an amazing documentary looking at the death of Osama bin Laden. Finally, with a massive number of people tuning in to the Eurovision final, Stratos Television will repeat the experience on Sunday, June 5 at 4pm. Wintertime on the couch sure looks more appealing with these shows:

LOVE, LIFE AND NEW ZEALAND

Wednesdays at 8:30pm from June 1 on Stratos

From the internationally bestselling novels by American author Emilie Richards comes a new series of German films with a Kiwi twist. The five week long series set in New Zealand explores love, romance, drama and finding yourself again. The films were huge hits when screened in Germany and show a side of New Zealand Kiwis may never have seen before. With a dynamic cast of both local and international actors this series is where the melting pot begins.

Saturdays at 7:30pm from June 4 on Stratos

We know the ads now check out the game show. Ease up on the drink sees eight Pacific Island teams of three go head to head in mixing mocktails, impromptu skits and a good old fashioned quiz round. Organised by Pasifika Broadcasting for the Alcohol Advisory Council of NZ (ALAC) the show tackles the current issue of Kiwi binge drinking in a seven part series with host John Pulu.

GREEN SHOOTS

Tuesdays at 10pm on Stratos

Budding film makers show the world what they're made of in this new series of short films. Green Shoots showcases the work of final year AUT students who explore the world of film and documentary. They script, film and edit to create this series which looks at community, drama, art, environment, sound and music.

PEOPLE AND POWER - 'DEATH OF BIN LADEN'

Mondays at 7pm on Stratos

One of the world's most infamous men has finally been brought down after hiding for almost 10 years, closing a chapter in history. This special Al Jazeera documentary looks at the death of Osama bin Laden and his impact on society as part of the People and Power series. This is a groundbreaking investigative series which looks at the use and abuse of power and returns to Monday nights on Stratos Television.
