‘Essential Queenstown’ Combo Launched – Shotover Jet & Nomad Safaris

Shotover Jet and Nomad Safaris have joined forces to create the ‘Essential Queenstown’ experience - an action-filled three-hour adventure linking two of Queenstown’s premier activities.

The trip features Shotover Jet, New Zealand’s most famous jet boat adventure and the only company permitted to operate in the spectacular Shotover River canyons. A breathtaking ride through the dramatic and narrow canyons including Queenstown’s only exhilarating full 360° spins is followed by a personalised two-hour off road adventure into New Zealand backcountry with Nomad Safaris in their specialised 4x4 vehicles.

Shotover Jet manager Clark Scott said the company was delighted to enter into a joint venture with a tourism operator who was just as focused on providing the ultimate tourism experience as they were.

“A large number of visitors come to the Southern Lakes region having already identified Shotover Jet as one of their ‘must do’ experiences, and now they have the opportunity to combine it with a customised 4WD off-road adventure with our friends from Nomad Safaris,” he said.

“Nomad Safaris is one of New Zealand’s most established and awarded tour operators with more than 20 years’ experience.

“ ‘Essential Queenstown’ combines the pure adrenaline and excitement of Shotover Jet with the opportunity to experience true off-roading accessing some of the region’s fantastic back country roads with the team from Nomad Safaris.”

Nomad Safaris’ owner David Gatward-Ferguson said the trip had been designed to fit easily into anyone’s itinerary in an easy half day package.

“Our route includes multiple crossings of the Arrow River in our specialised 4WD vehicles providing plenty of thrills, and takes in the historical Arrowtown area exploring early pioneer trails.

“Our fully qualified driver guides are happy to help passengers to strike it rich panning for gold, something else this area is famous for. Combining the ultimate Southern Lakes 4WD experience with the excitement of the legendary Shotover Jet ensures our customers leave having experienced the best the region has to offer.”

The trip departs from Queenstown four times daily and includes morning or afternoon tea with full interpretive commentary from off-road driver guides. Passengers learn about the history of the region and can view a number of the filming locations used in ‘Lord of the Rings’.
