Swift wrote “The Story of Us” about encountering an ex-boyfriend at an awards show, and it was the last song Swift wrote for the Speak Now album – she has said that when she finished it she knew the album was complete.

Speak Now was released on October 25 of last year by Big Machine Records and sold 1,046,718 copies in the U.S. in its first week of release, the biggest U.S. album debut since 2005. Taylor, whose record sales now top 20 million albums, is on tour in support of Speak Now, and is currently slated to play 98 shows in 17 countries in 2011. The North American leg of the tour kicks off May 27th in Omaha, Nebraska.
