Trans Tasman Rivalry Still Going Strong With Kangaroos Jersey Up For Auction
A Kangaroos’ jersey signed by Darren Lockyer and his team mates is causing quite a reaction on New Zealand’s #1 auction site Trade Me. The jersey was donated to Stars4Kids for an online fundraiser set up to raise much needed funds for Avonside Girl’s High and Shirley Primary, two Christchurch quake damaged schools.
Organiser Mandy Cook said today “Some comments from viewers on the site have been somewhat caustic and not terribly flattering towards the Australian players. On the other hand, there has been a lot of support because it is all for a good cause. It would be great to see this jersey go back across the Tasman to a worthy recipient, but we need those fans to start bidding if that is going to happen.”
Stars4Kids has been running for two weeks with the auction closing over Monday May 30 and Tuesday May 31st. The Kangaroos Jersey is currently sitting on a bid of $800 and will close on Tuesday night at 9.15pm.
Other Australian celebrities who have contributed to Stars4Kids include Kylie Minogue, Shane Warne, Geoffrey Rush, Russell Crowe, Geoff Huegill, Hugh Jackman, Guy Sebastian, Cold Chisel, Home & Away, Hi Five and Neighbours.
Trade Me is available to Australia. The auction can be viewed at www.trademe.co.nz/store/stars4kids
