Women's top elite surfers
Women's top elite surfers prove once more in France - they can handle tough waves just like men!
The world’s
top female surfers proved by pairing up grace,
strength and talent, that they are capable of
taking the sport to new heights.

Sally Fitzgibbons
The 2nd Swatch Girls Pro France 2011 delivered a firework of spectacular surfing! Moving through the rounds, the ladies faced strong currents and fast crashing waves. Heat after heat they tackled the rough challenge by laying down outstanding performances with technical, smooth and stylish surfing.
In windy conditions at the Atlantic coast in Hossegor spectators got to enjoy a thrilling and tight competition. The high level and demanding conditions thinned out to an exciting showdown of the world’s best female surfers. Unfortunately last year’s winner and 4-time World Champion Stephanie Gilmore (AUS) and top favourite Coco Ho (HAW) were already eliminated in the early rounds.
In the end, it was up to Sally Fitzgibbons (AUS) and Sage Erickson ( USA ) battling it out in the final. Sally racked up the highest combined two-wave total of 16 out of 20 points. Both ladies surfed at their limit! It was a matter of finding the perfect wave to take home the crown. The Atlantic Ocean granted Sally’s wishes!
The Australian and current No. 2 of the ASP Women’s World Ranking powered to a well deserved victory at the Girls Pro France 2011, making it her third major ASP-win this year!
