START Parents Centre Week 13-19 June – Celebrating New Zealand Parents!
Parents Centres have been equipping New Zealand parents with invaluable parenting knowledge for decades. This coming week – from 13-19 June - is Parents Centres Week and Centres up and down the country will be celebrating the amazing work they do in communities to support parents in their roles.
Singing sensation Yulia is expecting her first baby in the spring and has recently been appointed as an ambassador to Parents Centres New Zealand. She is excited to be supporting Parents Centres Week. “I am proud to be associated with such an iconic organisation as Parents Centres. The work that they do in communities supporting and educating parents is so very valuable and I am very much looking forward to completing their childbirth and parent education programmes and continuing to share my parenting journey with readers of their magazine, Kiwiparent.”
Parents Centres operate through a staggering network of 50 Centres and they are as varied in their approach to their National Week as they are to their geographical location! Here are some highlights over the course of the week:
Car seat safety checks, in partnership with New World supermarkets and Baby on the Move in locations around the country including Whakatane, Hamilton, Orewa, Tauranga, Morrinsville, Christchurch and Wellington (go to www.parentscentre.org.nz for details of locations and times).
A number of Auckland Centres (Papakura, Franklin, Onewa and Central Auckland) have banded together host the high profile launch of Pamela Stephenson-Connolly's new book "Sex Life" - Thursday 16th June at 7pm, Elizabeth Campbell Hall, Papakura. For further details check out the facebook page
Marlborough Parents Centre’s huge Parent and Child Expo on Sunday 12th June at the Marlborough Convention Centre in Blenheim (open 10am-4pm). And up and down the country there will be many giveaways celebrating the first babies born in communities during the week!
Look out for local Parents Centre promotion (easy to spot in their signature blue and gold colours) in local towns nationwide and support them and the wonderful work that they do with New Zealand parents.
