Mushroom Music Publishing sign Opshop and Jakob
Mushroom Music continues its enduring status as New Zealand’s premiere music publisher, with two prestigious signings in the bands Opshop and Jakob.
OPSHOP
Over the past seven years, Auckland based four-piece OPSHOP has become one of New Zealand’s best-loved bands, crafting a constant stream of massive hits and two multi platinum-selling albums, You Are Here and Second Hand Planet, distributing along the way some of the most recognisable songs of the last decade.

In 2011, lead singer Jason Kerrison was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the Queen's Birthday Honours, for services to music

JAKOB
They have been compared to such bands as Mogwai, Sonic Youth, Sigur Ros & ISIS, though they largely eschew any vocals or samples in their songs. At times putting the post- into rock, and at others kicking the whole bloody fence down, Jakob’s lush and textured take on the guitar/ bass/drums format continues to broaden and enthrall with every performance and release. Their music is captivating and mesmerizing, the sedate becoming devastating in the blink of a crowd’s collective eye.
Since 1998 Jakob have connected listeners the world over with their cascading crescendos, They begin recording of their fourth album this September. Look out.
