Treble Cone limited opening this Sunday 10th July
LAKE WANAKA, New Zealand (June 8, 2011) – After this week’s much awaited snowfall, Treble Cone gets underway this Sunday 10 July with a limited opening of the platter lift and beginners area.
Treble Cone received a significant amount of snow this week however, the recent snow fell onto bare terrain meaning a further 24 hours of snowmaking or natural snowfall is required to open the home basin. Management are hopeful that the continuing snowfall will allow them to open further terrain over the coming days.
“We’re delighted that the season is finally underway, albeit on a limited basis. Our hard working staff are doing everything possible to ensure we can fully open our doors for business shortly,” said Nigel Kerr, Treble Cone’s marketing manager.
Tomorrow’s opening will see food and beverage, rental and snow sports schools operating as normal with visitors being offered scenic chair rides with stunning views over Lake Wanaka. The learners lift is free of charge, giving non pass holders, beginners and families the opportunity to experience and enjoy Treble Cone also.
The snowfall comes as a huge relief after lack of snow and an unusually warm start to winter prevented the region’s ski fields from opening as scheduled.
With school holidays taking place later this year due to Rugby World Cup, there is still plenty of time for snow to fall before the busiest time of the season and pre-booked ski camps and programmes, a sentiment that is echoed throughout the region.
Treble Cone will open with celebratory Amisfield bubbles for the first skiers and riders on the lifts. For more information visit www.treblecone.com.
