Young Artists’ Showcase

MEDIA RELEASE – July, 2011

Young Artists’ Showcase

Glitz, glamour, razzle and dazzle are on the menu this month, with award-winning Operatunity presenting a showcase of New Zealand’s finest professional young artists.

As an Operatunity first, Director Susan Boland will lead singers Tizane McEvoy, Catherine Reaburn, Jeffrey Chang and the youngest of the NZ Three Tenors Bonaventure Allan-Moetaua in an exciting cabaret styled extravaganza of choreographed and costumed song and dance, accompanied by pianist John Mackay.

Mackay says he truly appreciates the audiences Operatunity attracts.

“They really appreciate the music,” he says.

“I hope people will continue coming to the concerts and supporting the many fine singers and entertainers Operatunity employ”.

Originally from Canada, John Mackay spent the last 28 years touring the US before coming to New Zealand in 2010. Mackay has had a long and illustrious career as a pianist and organist, as well as being an award-winning composer and arranger.

He says he is very much looking forward to working with some of New Zealand’s finest young artists “doing their singing and dancing”.

The concert will showcase fantastic repertoire including classics like Be a Clown, Don’t Rain on my Parade, And all that Jazz, Bohemian Rhapsody, Putting on the Ritz, and Summertime among many more.

Operatunity will visit 25 venues from Whangarei to Invercargill with its “Young Artists’ Showcase” tour, commencing in Taupo on July 26. Tickets from $25 include lunch with the artists, with discounts available for group and concession bookings.
