Horncastle’s Suitcase success
The popularity of Christchurch businessman Graeme Horncastle's recently released book, Horncastle’s Suitcase, had led to a reprint.
In the book Graeme reflects on his journey through life, from leaving school at 15, a teenage marriage and then a life of luxury, before his daughter dies from cancer and the resulting downward spiral into depression and alcohol.
“Horncastle’s Suitcase has struck a chord with many people who can identify with my journey and reflect on their own personal stories,” says Graeme.
“It’s full of characters and has plenty of personal anecdotes about life, success and working your way through difficult times.”
Horncastle’s Suitcase has received excellent reviews and the popularity of the book has led to the decision to produce a second reprint.
Graeme Horncastle is well-known throughout New Zealand as a very successful hotel operator and currently owns the 86-room Pavilions Hotel in Christchurch with his wife Maureen and daughter Debbie.
Graeme Horncastle was raised on a remote and run-down family farm at Karamea before he found success as a businessman.
Graeme and Maureen started in the hotel trade with a share in the lease of the Westport Tavern, then leaving the West Coast to lease the Oxley Hotel in Picton, the Royal Hotel in Nelson, Motueka’s Swan Hotel and ownership of the Brightwater Hotel in Nelson. He was also involved in the redevelopment of Nelson’s Brightwater Hotel and the Leisure Lodge.
