CRC Speedshow highlights Kiwi talents

Kiwi talents with all things automotive create another exciting aspect to this year’s CRC Speedshow.

The new Fraser custom motorbike service and James D’s latest customised trikes are on show at the automotive extravaganza taking place at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland over the weekend of 23 and 24 July.

The custom-made V8-powered James D trikes and a new custom motorbike service from Fraser Cars highlight the diverse talents of New Zealanders in the automotive sector.

The Rangiora-based James D team is showing their new C-35 model at CRC Speedshow. The custom-made C-35 represents the 350cc Chevrolet motor that powered the 800kg three-wheeled machine.

Designer and master builder James Davey says: “As a touring machine, the trikes offer fantastic comfort as well as amazing power, speed and handling. Complete with a 12 month warranty, these large trikes are registered as a car in New Zealand and comply with Australian and European design rules and safety standards.”

The Fraser Cars’ team kick-starts their new service by revealing the Fraser Flat Tracker bike, which has been up-cycled from an unloved, broken Yamaha TW200, at CRC Speedshow.

Fraser Cars has been handcrafting Lotus 7 replica sports cars in New Zealand for over 20 years from its Auckland workshop and now customers can work alongside the Fraser team to develop their dream bike.

Scott Tristram, co-owner of Fraser Cars says: “So many people want to create something unique. The Fraser Customs service is all about taking someone’s vision and creating a handcrafted motorbike that is fully road-legal. Fraser bikes will all be warranted, registered and ready-to-ride.”

The craftsmen at Fraser will be taking old motorbikes and up-cycling them to create new, exciting custom bikes. And any additional components will be manufactured by the team at the workshop right here in New Zealand.

Ida Tristram, who co-owns the business with husband Scott, adds: “We have brilliant craftsmen in New Zealand, as well as the great Kiwi ‘can-do’ attitude. So we’re combining years of experience handcrafting cars with a creative desire to design a motorbike that is exactly what a customer wants. Every single bike will be unique, just like the owner.”

CRC Speedshow promoter Keith Sharp says: “It’s fantastic that the team from James D have been able to travel to CRC Speedshow this year given the damage in and around Christchurch from the earthquakes.

“With just a week to go before the show, our whole team is getting really excited to see all the millions of dollars worth of cars and bikes – including the models from James D and Fraser Cars ready for fans to enjoy.”

CRC Speedshow runs for two days, Saturday 23 July and Sunday 24 July, with tickets available only at the gate. The show opens at 9am each day, closing at 6pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday. Adult tickets are $18.50 each, children aged 10 to 15 years $10 each, and children under 10 years of age free with a paying adult. A family pass offers great value at $48 for two adults and up to three children. News, competitions and show information is updated on the show’s website, www.speedshow.co.nz, and Facebook page on a regular basis.
