Special unveilings at CRC Speedshow

NZ V8 touring car

Two stars of the 2011 CRC Speedshow - a Lotus Renault Formula 1 car and a brand-new BNT V8 race car - will be unveiled by the Minister of Transport Hon. Steven Joyce on Saturday 23 July.

Featuring millions of dollars worth of vehicles, the two-day annual automotive and motorsport expo takes place at the ASB Showgrounds in Auckland this coming weekend.

Show promoter Keith Sharp says: "We're honoured that Steven Joyce can make the time available to visit CRC Speedshow. The show largely covers the recreational side of the transport sector, but a number of exhibitors are presenting products and services focused on fuel efficiency and fleet management which are important components in the transport sector.

"Like many other motorsport fans, I'm looking forward to seeing both the Lotus Renault F1 and the new-look NZ V8 touring car, and we're delighted the Minister can participant in our official unveiling of these vehicles at 10am on Saturday."

Kerry Cooper, CEO of The MotorSport Company which promotes the BNT V8s Championship, is also looking forward to revealing the entirely Kiwi-designed and built NZV8 race car at Speedshow. The new model is due to hit the track late in 2012.

"At CRC Speedshow, we're delighted to have the Minister's assistance to show the first of these new race cars, which is a FG Falcon being constructed for Albany-based team owner Andrew McKenzie. The tube chassis presents us with a comprehensive race car design and common platform for the future. Initially it will give the BNT V8s Championship a VE Commodore and FG Falcon," says Cooper.

"The MotorSport Company also shows a line-up of great race cars ready for the coming season along with Clint Brown and the crew from our Fujitsu MotorSport NZ television show interviewing guests and drivers. This will be our official launch of our season to the public and we have got some great stuff in store for everyone.

"Keith Sharp and his team have put together another fantastic show this year that will feature the awesome Lotus F1 car, our own Hamilton hero Shane van Gisbergen along with his V8 Supercar, the latest in motorbikes and accessories, every kind of race car you can imagine and some great displays of D1NZ drifting, stunt utes and much more."

CRC Speedshow runs for two days, Saturday 23 July and Sunday 24 July, with tickets available only at the gate. The show opens at 9am each day, closing at 6pm on Saturday and 5pm on Sunday. Adult tickets are $18.50 each, children aged 10 to 15 years $10 each, and children under 10 years of age free with a paying adult. A family pass offers great value at $48 for two adults and up to three children. News, competitions and show information is updated on the show's website, www.speedshow.co.nz, and Facebook page on a regular basis.
