It’s time to celebrate people with attitude

If you know someone living with a disability whose achievements deserve celebrating, or someone who makes a difference for them, nominate them for an Attitude Award.

Inspired by Attitude TV (TV One 8:30am Sundays), the fourth annual Attitude Awards will again highlight New Zealanders living with disabilities and people like employers who make life more enjoyable for them, at a black tie awards evening.

Nominations for the 2011 Attitude Awards are open until August 7 and nomination forms can be downloaded from the Attitude website.

From an internationally recognised athlete to a friendly community helper, anyone living with a disability is eligible for category nomination. There are seven categories in the awards: sport performer of the year, courage in sport, artistic achievement, youth, spirit of Attitude, ACC employer and ‘making a difference’.

The ACC Supreme Attitude Award will be selected from winners of these categories and the overall winner will receive the use of a Signature Class car for a year, provided by Toyota New Zealand, as well as $5000 worth of travel from Air New Zealand.

Drake Medox, New Zealand on Air, Westpac, IHC Foundation, Air New Zealand, Toyota Mobility, Wayne Francis Charitable Trust and Ministry of Health have also committed to supporting the awards.

The black tie event will be held at the new Viaduct Events Centre in Auckland on December 1.

Guests can expect to mix and mingle with New Zealand celebrities, politicians, sport stars, and network with the movers and shakers in the disability sector.
