Game On raises $17,000 for Remarkables Primary School

A rugby themed fundraiser on Saturday night "Remarkables Game On" raised approximately $17,000 for the children of Remarkables Primary School.

Over 250 people including parents, teachers and supporters from the local community braved the stormy weather to watch New Zealand beat France on the giant 16 x 9 foot screen and dance the night away to local band Groova.

Themed with support by HQ New Zealand, the school hall was transformed in to the Remarkables Primary School clubrooms for the night. As well as a great selection of food and beverages, rugby and live music, the RPA had organised a number of fundraising activities using thousands of dollars worth of prizes generously donated by over 140 local businesses. And what a result, not only a win for New Zealand but a great win for the children of Remarkables Primary School.

The RPA was thrilled with the success of the night. RPA Chair Tracey Pedersen said, "We are blown away by the amount of money raised on the night, particularly since we were unable to charge an entry fee. We couldn't have done it without the amazing support from members of the community who donated their time, services and great prizes. Thank you all."

Funds raised by the RPA will be donated to the school to purchase new books and other resources for the school library and information centre. School Principal Debbie Dickson is grateful for the donation, "We really appreciate the hard work put in to organising this event by members of the RPA. It's going to be fantastic to stock up our library - something which the students will benefit from for many years to come."
