The 3rd annual Auckland Sling Walk is set to take place on October 15th and has been organised in celebration of New Zealand and International Babywearing week which runs from 10 – 16 October. With over $6,000.00 in donated prizes up for grabs the 2011 Auckland Sling Walk is set to be a fun and informative day out for the whole family.
Babywearing is the term used to describe the traditional practice of carrying children using baby carriers and slings. Babywearing is a valuable skill and parenting tool which has many benefits for children and their caregivers.
The Auckland event is one of many happening around New Zealand this week with celebrations in centres from Auckland to Invercargill. Babywearing experts from Slingbabies and Babywearing North Shore will be attending the Auckland Sling Walk to promote babywearing safety.
Interested families are invited to meet opposite the Kelly Tarlton’s exit on Tamaki Drive at 11am for free registration. Bring a picnic to enjoy at the park after the walk. The wet weather venue is St Lukes Mall, meet outside the movie theatre on level 3 at 11am.
