Don't miss the opportunity to recognise a hero!
PRESS RELEASE
13 October 2011
Don't miss the
opportunity to recognise a hero!
Do you know of a truck or bus driver who has performed a heroic deed? Don't miss the deadline to recognise commercial drivers, who go the extra mile for someone else. Nominations for the 2011 Beaurepaires Highway Hero award will be accepted until November 1, 2011.
"Since 1999, we've heard over a hundred stories of truck drivers' bravery and selflessness. The actions of these individuals deserve recognition and this is why we established the program," said Jamie Stewart, marketing manager for Beaurepaires.
"In our experience, these guys rarely see themselves as heroes and it takes others to nominate them."
Established by Beaurepaires in association with the New Zealand Police, NZ Transport Agency and NZ Trucking magazine, Beaurepaires' Highway Heroes awards have been recognising professional truck, coach and bus drivers around the country for their good deeds performed on the job.
During November, representatives from the programme's four main supporters will judge the 2011 nominee stories to select a supreme winner.
Heroes can be nominated through
Beaurepaires stores, the local police station or at
www.highway-heroes.co.nz
Be on the lookout for a hero! There's a set of car tyres to be won for the nominator of the supreme winner.
For award
consideration, the following criteria must be met:
*
The nominee must have been on the job, or on the way to or
from work, and in his or her commercial rig at the time of
the incident;
* The incident must have occurred
between November 2010 and November 2011 to qualify for this
year's
program.
