For the first time since it was
shaken from it regular April spot at
the Art Gallery,
the CANTERBURY SHORT FILM FESTIVAL returns to
celebrate
its tenth year of presenting short films from here and
abroad to a Canterbury audience.
Postponed from April
and homeless, the Belladonna Film Trust has opted
to
take its trademark festival out into the suburbs on a little
tour
beyond the constraints of the four avenues. A
‘four-corners’ theme was
decided upon with a venue
in each corner of town; ELMWOOD AUDITORIUM
on October
25, THE VENUE’s FUNCTION ROOM at Hornby on October 26, NEW
BRIGHTON LIBRARY’s Learning Centre on October 27 and
SOUTH LIBRARY’s
Learning Centre on October
28.
PRICES this year are halved to reflect the economic
strain of the
recovery period; a universal $5 ticket
price replaces previous
wage-unwaged prices.
This is
a rare chance to see the works on new film practitioners
before they disappear into the vast industry of film
production. “Many
students of film do there most
creativity free work at this point,”
says Belladonna
trustee Aden Shillito, “before the industry conditions
them and large budgets restrict their choices.”
For
the first time this year the festival takes to the road
after
closing in Christchurch and will visit 11 cities
in the North and
upper South Island on tour over the
next month, starting with Nelson.
Tickets are by door sale
(cash only) at the venue on the night, first
in first
served! For details, contact Belladonna Film Trust on 03
36516151 or 021 2159137 or visit our website
