Warrior Kids: Warrior Training for Children

Warrior Kids: Warrior Training for Children

Tim Tipene

Thousands of children around New Zealand have been empowered through Tim Tipene’s Warrior Kids programme over the past 17 years. With the launch of his new book Warrior Kids: Warrior Training for Children, this award-winning author and highly ranked martial arts instructor shares his unique programme to allow even more children to become champions of their own lives. The book answers a pressing need for a teaching manual to address issues such as bullying and abuse.

Focusing on bringing out the warrior within, the Warrior Kids programme draws upon Maori concepts of the warrior and Eastern martial arts in a non-aggressive way designed to instil confidence, respect and self-control, leading children to become masters of their lives. Warrior Kids: Warrior Training for Children features the complete ten sessions of the in-school programme in a format that instructors can apply to their own work with young people.

Tim Tipene is a qualified martial arts instructor who has accumulated a total of 12 Dan Black Belt ranks. He is a youth and self-defence counsellor, as well as the award-winning author of children’s picture books and junior novels that have included Kura Toa: Warrior School, Warrior Kids, Haere Jack Haere and Taming the Taniwha. Tim is also a trustee of the Storylines Children’s Literature Foundation. He lives in Waitakere, Auckland.
