TELSTRACLEAR FESTIVAL CLUB

CIRCUS: AUSTRALIA

“A rollercoaster ride of acrobatic feats, gravity-defying prowess and erotic manoeuvres.”

Sunday Mail, Brisbane

Circus gets a titillating twist as Cantina’s creatures of the night come out to play at the TelstraClear Festival Club. Award-winning Australian troupe Strut and Fret’s Cantina features heart-stopping acrobatic skills amid the decadent atmosphere of a Depression-era cabaret.

The Festival’s beloved Club tent is back in 2012 – this time in the heart of the action on the Wellington waterfront. From its playful opening, Cantina gradually morphs to a more sinister place where vaudeville glamour fades and dark desires emerge from the shadows. Cantina transports audiences to the world of 1930s speak-easy, where the line between passion and pain is never quite clear.

But for all its theatrical ambience, the show’s physical feats remain the highlight. Cantina features a cast of Australia’s most experienced and respected creators of circus, previously from C!RCA, La Clique, Acrobat, Circus Oz, Tom Tom Crew and Cirkus Cirkör (Sweden).

The world-class performers walk tightropes in high heels, literally throw each other around the stage and display stunning acrobatic feats. Cantina’s cocktail of skill, danger and sensuality has seen it enjoy sold-out seasons across Australia.
