Visa congratulates Valerie Adams - Top Three in the World

Auckland, 13 November 2011 – Queen of the Shot Put, Valerie Adams, has been recognised as one of the top three female athletes in the world by the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF).

At age 27 Valerie Adams is the current Olympic Champion, current World Champion, 2008 World Indoor Champion, and current Commonwealth Champion. She threw a personal best of 21.24m earlier this year in Daegu, South Korea to take out her third straight world title and has remained unbeaten throughout 2011.

Sean Preston, Country Manager at Visa New Zealand, says the acknowledgement completes an outstanding year for Valerie.

“The Visa team is excited and very proud of Val – we know how hard she has worked over the last year and the dedication she puts into training and competing She is a true inspiration for all Kiwis and this recognition is testament to her commitment and passion.”

Visa New Zealand has enjoyed a successful relationship with Valerie Adams for more than five years and is proud to support Valerie during her next championship bid at the London 2012 Olympic Games.
