MINA Mobile Creativity and Innovation Symposium 2011 26th November
MINA, the Mobile Innovation Network
Aotearoa, is a project that explores the possibilities of
interaction between people, content and the emerging mobile
industry
The International Mobile Innovation Screening 2011, hosted at the New Zealand Film Archive in Wellington from 23rd November – 26th November, will showcase more than 55 international short films and four feature films, all produced on mobile devices. In addition MINA will feature selections from the Mobilefest (Brazil), Mobile Screenfest International (Australia) and Ohrenblick (Germany). The programme is curated by the Mobile Innovation Network Aotearoa [MINA] who are presenting these works for the first time in New Zealand.
"Mobile filmmaking is an international phenomenon that first appeared in London and Paris around five years ago. There are mobile film-festivals in many cities that have a striving film culture like Hong Kong, São Paulo, Sydney or L.A. And now in Wellington.” says Dr. Max Schleser, mobile film maker and co-founder of MINA. “Mobile film making provides opportunities for the next generation of film makers to produce innovative moving-image work and can empower communities through creativity." says Max.
Supporting these screenings, The MINA symposium hosted at Massey University Wellington, on 26th November, will provide a platform for filmmakers, artists, researchers and industry professionals to debate the prospect of wireless, mobile and ubiquitous technologies in a changing art and design environment and the transforming creative industries.
