Kiwi Artist travels to Tamworth for the first time in January 2012

New Zealand singer songwriter Aly Cook will attend the Tamworth Country music festival for the first time. Aly Cook's May 2011 CD release Brand New Day is distributed in Australia by WJO and is reviewed in December's issue of Australian Country Update magazine.

2011 has been a year filled with travel for Aly Cook including having performed at Urban Country music festival Caboolture, Blue Water Country Music Festival Port Stephens, Port Pirie Country Music Festival South Australia, Canberra Country Music Festival. Norfolk Island country music festival, Towerfest and Americana International in the UK and a concert in Louhans Bressen France. As well as Wildfoods and Under the Big Sky in NZ for which she also featured in December's issue of the Kia Ora Air New Zealand Inflight magazine.

A highlight of Aly's year was being amoung the 25 finalists for Next Magazine New Zealand Woman of the Year, selected as an inspiration to other family women pursuing careers, along with her community and humanitarian efforts as a Global Village Champion and a co-ordinator of the We Will Rise Again CD with benefits to the Red Cross 2011 Canterbury Earthquake Appeal. another and more personal highlight came when Aly met a brother for the first time who she didn't know existed and the story had a TVNZ Camera crew follow her to the UK.

Aly Cook will perform at the NZ Spectacular Showcase at 2.00pm on Wednesday 25th at the Capitol Theatre, Tamworth with a raft of other kiwi artists living and performing on both sides of the Tasman including:

Craig Robertson, Aly Cook, Kaylee Bell, Vickie Evans (2011 Senior N Z Gold Guitar winner), Katie Mason (Intermediate Gold Guitar winner r), Zoe Scott (junior Gold Guitar winner ), Lanae Hill (40plus Gold Guitar winner ) Arianne Baker, Russell Mead, Ron Gallagher, Glenise Terry, Lance Murch, Mihi Murch, Cameron Scott, Vivi Cossland (2011 Junior Entertainer of the Year winner), Phobe Hall (2011 Senior Entertainer of the Year winner). Aly will also perform a few songs solo for the Tamworth Songwriters Association stand in Peel street on Wednesday 25th at 10am Aly was a judge for the 2012 Tamworth Songwriters Association Songwriting competition.

The Second single from Aly Cook's Brand New Day album entitled "Midnight Sun" has now released to radio in NZ via the December NZOA Hit Disc and video will be launched shortly the single will be released in Australia in February, though stations in Australia have begun playing in and some in UK Europe including some BBC stations in the UK.
