A Night of Circus Accomplishment

A night of accomplishment, talent, and new beginnings was celebrated Saturday 17 December at Te Whaea Theatre, for the Wellington Circus Trust Christmas Party.

The venue capacity audience was astounded and delighted with a showcase of the Circus students and alumni. Ranging in age and skill this was a joyous celebration of a years hard work and the revealing of the new home of the Wellington Circus Trust at 11 Hutchison St, Newtown – newly dubbed The Circus Hub!

“This show was a summary of where we are at as an organisation… kids, teens, recreational adults, budding artists, and even founding board members performing together.. the audience really got to see who we are and what we are up to. More than that they caught a good whiff of our future potential as we head into this new phase of creating a home for circus in Wellington.” – Alice Capper-Starr, Cirus Trust Producer.

The Circus Hub will be reopening 2012, with an exciting range of classes for Kids, Teens, Adults, and Professional Performers - over 30 classes developing skills ranging from Aerials, Trapeze, Tumbling, Hula Hoop, Balance, Juggling, and Fitness!

Classes are run in term blocks and more information can be found at www.circus.org.nz

Wellington Circus Trust was formed as a charitable Trust in December 2005. At that time there were a number of talented and enthusiastic circus professionals and amateurs who were creating wonderful performances, training and engaging in teaching and learning but finding the facilities and infrastructure was always a challenge. The Trust was formed in order to be able to set up the infrastructure needed for artists to train and share circus with the Wellington public.
