Artistic Skating lessons come to Kilbirnie
Artistic Skating lessons come to Kilbirnie
Media Release - 3 February 2012
SkateWell Limited (SkateWell), Wellington’s only Artistic Skating coaching company , are delighted to announce that skating lessons for children of all ages are now available at the Kilbirnie Recreation Centre on Saturday mornings.
Classes begin on 11 February, and run from 8.30 - 9.30am.
Children will be taught the basics of artistic skating, and will learn to spin, jump, and match their skills to music, all while on wheels. Lessons will cost $110 for an 8 week term.
Sarah-Jane Jones, one of SkateWell’s two head coaches says “skating is a great opportunity for children to develop their musicality and sportsmanship together, to interpret the music and become proficient at a sport that has room to grow”.
SkateWell will shortly be purchasing its
second batch of new Sure Grip skates, which will be
available for the students to use during their lessons.
“This is an amazing opportunity to teach the basics of
artistic skating to children of all ages in a purpose-built
facility right here in Wellington,” says Head Coach Laura
McKenzie.
SkateWell is not new to skate coaching. During
2011 the company ran classes for pre-school children in
Upper Hutt with great success. Students from as young as 2
were able to learn the basics of skating. In addition,
SkateWell coaches have students who between them hold
multiple national titles, and themselves have held
international rankings as high as 3rd in the world.
With the World Artistic Roller Sports Championships to be held in Auckland this October, it is expected that the demand for roller skating lessons will grow. SkateWell is the franchise holder for Komplex Wheels and Sure Grip skates, and is able to provide the best possible equipment for the lessons in Kilbirnie.
