‘Stars in Their Eyes’ Winner Playing With Our Heart Strings’

February 1st, 2012

‘Stars in Their Eyes’ Winner Playing With Our Heart Strings’

The Heart Strings guitars will be celebrated in a live concert by Stars in Their Eyes winner Mandy Pickering and her band in Auckland on Sunday 11th March at The Wharf.

Handcrafted using timber from many historic buildings that fell in the Canterbury earthquakes, the Heart Strings guitars commemorate the loss of buildings and lives. Each guitar has a unique design that reflects the history of the timber used to build it.

Mandy Pickering, whose musician husband Jason, helped design the Heart Strings guitar series, is currently taking the guitars on her nationwide tour to help raise awareness of the project.

Having performed to sold out audiences in her home town and in Nelson and Tauranga, she is now taking the show to Te Papa Museum in Wellington on Sunday 12th February and a very special Heart Strings concert in Auckland on Sunday 11th March at Northshore venue; The Wharf.

Mandy will be performing songs from her self titled debut album and promoting her new original material, some inspired by the devastation she has witnessed over the past year in her home town and the strength of the human spirit revealed as a result.

“The Heart Strings project is so meaningful to us, especially as Christchurch is my home town and my family and I have experienced our own personal loss, including the loss of our home, but what I love about this project is all about hope and positivity” Mandy said.
