Luke Ronchi will make his Wellington Firebirds debut in this match. Wicket-keeper batsman Ronchi is looking forward to playing his first game for the Firebirds. “I’m excited about playing for Wellington on Sunday and look forward to the challenge of playing with my new teammates and in the new environment,” he said.
Ronchi has most recently being playing for Western Australia in the Australian first-class domestic competition, his side just missing out on the final: “It was frustrating to miss out by two points on playing in the final, but that disappointment has led to this opportunity and I’m really glad to be here.”
From the team that drew with the Northern Knights earlier this week at the Hawkins Basin Reserve, Ronchi and Luke Woodcock come in for Mark Gillespie (with the BLACKCAPS) and Craig Cachopa.
