Cooper’s Creative iD Collaboration

Dunedin Railway Station had its very own WOW factor last night when Emily and Tamsin Cooper’s Capsule Collection took to the runway for the iD Dunedin Fashion Show.
Not only did the appreciative audience audibly gasp and clap when the almost ethereal, high drama collection of Victorian exotica levitated down the runway, but they were treated to a veritable assault on the senses created at the amazingly talented hand of Jolene Wilkinson from Estelle Flowers.
Tamsin Cooper’s new range of velvet coats with hand embroidered peacock feathers in rich emeralds and ruby reds from her Winter Collection worked beautifully with Emily’s Silkbody floor length, full skirts and wonderfully coloured pieces. The collection was a celebration of femininity.
Ordinarily the garments themselves would have kept the crowd enthralled, but always aspiring to leave an indelible memory on all who attend this iconic event, they wanted something just a little bit special – and that is what they got, in floral proportions. Wild, dramatic and oversized wristlets adorned the models and the jewel in the floral crown was a 1930s inspired headpiece and bouquet that featured orchids, jasmine, Autumn berries and peacock feathers.
That Tamsin and Emily Cooper have a contribution to make to fashion in New Zealand is unquestionable but that they aspire to showcase other Dunedin creatives is to be admired. Their collection was nothing short of inspiring.
