Year Amid Winter – Auckland Chapter

After a hiatus of 3 years, Kelvin Hayes' new book 'YEAR AMID WINTER' is coming out as a series of free blogs. “The reason for this is that I am really bored of working on a book for a year or more and sending out press to universal disinterest and its subsequent rapid death! And also to try out a new approach.”

The first part Oxford has been online for the best part of a month. The second part of the trilogy of cities making up 'Winter' is 'AUCKLAND' and this appears in 2 parts online as it's so long. “As I'm giving the book away free I haven't done as much editing as I would normally have done. I just wanted to get it out there and see if there was any response.”

Hayes (a UK/NZ national) studied Design and has since produced several books of poetry, travelogues, exhibited photography and has collaborated with Portuguese musician O Atlas on a number of songs for future release. He was a music journalist for All Music Guide and more recently a travel writer for The Travel Editor, Time Out (Istanbul), Qatar Airways in-flight magazine and FRV Travel. He has visited 27 countries and last year alone lived in New Zealand, Turkey, the UK and Thailand.

Meanwhile most of Hayes other books are available at www.lulu.com “I was hoping to release them via Amazon Kindle but I can't seem to access the upload page here in China.” Recently the National Library of New Zealand purchased all of his e-books and he is also a member of APRA.

'YEAR AMID WINTER' is available to view on both My Space and Red Bubble. The first two parts are online now with the 3rd and final part 'ISTANBUL' following in April.
