Choice Hotels Sponsors Length of New Zealand Runner
Choice Hotels is providing Mathew Broad and his team with several hot showers and good nights’ sleep as he runs the length of New Zealand to raise money for St John Ambulance.
The 23 year old set off from Cape Reinga on Sunday 1 April and intends to complete his mission of running the length of the country in just 35 days, crossing the finish line at Bluff.
Mathew’s ‘Running North 2 South’ challenge will see him burn through several pairs of running shoes as he clocks up a total of 2298 kilometres and paces his way through some spectacular countryside.
He will be running between 31 and 98km per day with the hope of raising more than $30,000 for St John Ambulance.
Mathew was inspired to do the run by his late Grandad, a man who Mathew says always devoted his time to supporting the local community and helping others – particularly St John. He is using his run to carry on the good work his grandfather started.
Choice Hotels is providing free accommodation for Matthew and his team at 10 locations where it has properties along the length of his run.
This includes nights at Quality Hotel Barrycourt in Auckland, Comfort Inn Southern Cross in Hamilton, Quality Inn On Fenton in Rotorua, Comfort Inn Cascades in Taupo, Comfort Inn Kauri Court in Palmerston North, Quality Inn Angus in Lower Hutt, Comfort Inn Kaikoura Mediterranean in Kaikoura, Econo Lodge Canterbury Court in Christchurch, Comfort Hotel Benevenue in Timaru and the Quality Hotel Cargills in Dunedin.
Choice Hotels General Manager, Sales and Marketing, Aileen Cobern, says; “We are thrilled to support Mathew and St John and we wish him all the best for the long but exciting road ahead.”
For information on Mathew or to donate, visit www.runningnorth2south.co.nz. One hundred percent of the donations made will go directly to St John.
