Hong Kong TV stars to sing at New Zealand Multicultural Festival 2012
An appearance by Hong Kong television stars Anderson Junior, Sharon Chan and Roger Kwok will be among the highlights of the New Zealand Multicultural Festival in Manukau City on Sunday 22 April.
Organised by World TV Limited, TV9 and Radio 9, the cultural extravaganza at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre will celebrate New Zealand’s cultural diversity with a family-friendly programme that will include performances by traditional and contemporary music groups and The Doggie Challenge, a competition to find the smartest and ‘cutest’ pet dogs.
An array of Asian food and beverages will add colour to the event which is one of the biggest of its kind in New Zealand.
TVB’s Sharon Chan and Roger Kwok will sing to the audience while Anderson Junior will host a game show. All three TVB stars will be available for a ‘meet and greet’ and autograph-signing session.
Other highlights at the Multicultural Festival include dance performances by various groups including: Chinese (traditional Tibetan and Dai dances), Japanese (Hokkaido Fisherman’s song and dance), Korean (fan dance), Indian (belly dance), Russian (folk dance), French (traditional festival dance) and English (maypole dance).
There will also be children’s entertainment and performances by the winners of the International Chinese New Talent Singing Championship which will be held a day earlier, on Saturday 21 April, at the same venue.
The festival is a celebration of New Zealand’s cultural diversity and in this way complements World TV’s network of television and radio stations. In particular, TV9 and Radio 9, broadcasting in English, are filling a gap in the mainstream market for business and cultural information about New Zealand’s evolving relationship with Asia.
TV9, www.tv9.co.nz, goes to air on FreeviewIHD® Channel 29 and features news programmes that are simultaneously broadcast on Radio 9, 104.2 FM.
Entry to the Multicultural Festival is free. The festivities begin at 11am and finish at 5pm.
