Hayden Paddon and John Kennard honoured in Wall of Fame
Hayden Paddon and John Kennard have claimed yet another accolade, being inducted into the MSNZ Wall of Fame at the annual Motorsport Awards on Saturday 19 May.
Established in 1994, the Wall of Fame pays tribute to those whose achievements or contribution to motorsport have brought New Zealand to the world stage.
Hayden Paddon and John Kennard have done exactly that. Since joining forces in 2006, they have gone from strength to strength, winning back-to-back New Zealand Rally Championships in 2008 and 2009, and in 2012 claiming the Production World Rally Championship (PWRC) – the only southern hemisphere team to ever do so.
“Paddon and Kennard have formed an outstanding team and are fantastic ambassadors for New Zealand motorsport, we are delighted to honour them in this way,” said Shayne Harris , president of MotorSport New Zealand .
“Despite a generous age difference, they work extremely well together and have reached milestone after milestone, bringing New Zealand rallying to the forefront internationally.”
This
year Paddon and Kennard graduated from the PWRC and embarked
on the Super 2000 World Rally Championship (SWRC) – the
new feeder class to the World Rally Championship. Undaunted
by the fierce competition, they have already recorded a
maiden win – in Portugal – and are currently ranked
second.
