London 2012 Olympics needs New Zealanders
London 2012 Olympics needs New Zealanders
by Joseph Hoye
Missed out on tickets to London 2012? Gutted that you won’t see Mark Todd, Mahe Drysdale and Alison Shanks sweat for New Zealand? Tired of listening to people brag about their synchronized swimming tickets?
Get revenge.
Kiwi House in King’s Cross will be the event centre for New Zealand’s athletes and VIPs for the London Olympics and it needs volunteers – a lot of volunteers.
This is a great way to rub shoulders with the best of New Zealand’s sports people plus it will help to make the London 2012 Olympics a New Zealand Olympics.
Trevor Sutton is the man to speak with. Trevor organized the Brixton screenings of Christchurch documentary When A City Falls earlier this year. He’s a tireless and passionate worker for New Zealand and would love to hear from like-minded people who would like to make a difference to New Zealand’s Olympic effort.
Volunteer roles will include guides, bar staff, servers, cleaners, security (must be licensed) and general helpers – a full list will be released shortly. Volunteers do not have to commit for the entire length of the event or even a full day. It’s a do-what-you-can event and all help will be gratefully accepted.
