Event: This Film Changed My Life
This Film Changed My Life
EVENT: 26 JUNE 2012, AUCKLAND
What do we mean when we say we are moved by a film?
Sometimes rather than merely experiencing a wave of emotions we are literally shifted, emerging from the cinema with a new position.
Whether at a young age or a turning point in their career, for many filmmakers there is one film that moved them more than any other – either inspiring them to dedicate their life to filmmaking or changing the way they make films.
Documentary filmmaker Sumner Burstyn (This Way of Life) talks to acclaimed cinematographer Leon Narbey (Whale Rider, Dean Spanley, The Orator) and writer/directors Zia Mandviwalla (Night Shift) and Kirstin Marcon (The Most Fun You Can Have Dying) about the films that changed their lives. Each panelist will show a clip from a film they have chosen and talk about how it is the filmmaker succeeded in evoking such a strong response.
Drinks 7pm, 7.30 start, Tuesday 26th June, The Classic, 321 Queen Street, Auckland, $5 koha appreciated. Stay afterward for a slice of pizza on us and a drink.
