Last call for More FM Birdman entries

Organisers of the 2012 American Express Queenstown Winter Festival are calling for final entries in one of festival’s longest running competitions.

The More FM Birdman, to be held this Saturday (June 23), has long been a crowd favourite and with four tickets to the highly anticipated Flight of the Conchords show on Sunday night (June 24) up for grabs, this years’ event is sure to be popular with competitors too.

Festival Director Simon Green says "We’re hoping the chance to win 4 tickets to Flight of the Conchords will really get people excited about entering and take the chill off a little when they hit the icey waters of Lake Wakatipu. The concert has been sold out for months and I know there are a lot of people out there who would love to go.”

Wet, wild and out of control, the 2012 MoreFM Birdman will see competitors, dressed in hilarious costumes, launch themselves into the chilly waters of Lake Wakatipu all in the name of fun.

`We’ve had some amazing entries over the last 10 years or so. We had the orange men from last year in the office last week and the word on the street is that the girls from Hush Spa are back too. So there’s bound to be some bikini action again this year’ Green adds.

Kicking off at 1.30pm, the MoreFM Birdman winds up an action packed day of events in downtown Queenstown including the Frontrunner Golden Mile, American Express Festival Parade and Auckland Airport Family Fun Day on Earnslaw Park.

Entries for the 2012 More FM Birdman will close at 5pm this Wednesday (June 20).
