An exhibition of new works by Mieke de Court will be showing in the last week of June at Matchbox Studios, recently opened gallery space, 166 Cuba Street, Wellington City.
Out of the Woodwork will run alongside fellow contemporary jeweller Camille Walton’s exhibition, and both shows will open at a joint celebration on Tuesday June 26th from 6pm- 9pm. The two exhibitions will run from June 26th- Sunday 1st July. Matchbox Studios is open Tuesday to Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 10am- 5pm and Sunday 12-4pm.
Out of the Woodwork features new works by de Court for whom contemporary jewellery is a creative expressive outlet.
A jewellery artist who enjoys using her hands and a few tools to breathe new life into and extract beauty from what would otherwise be mundane objects.
“I give new life to what would otherwise be mundane objects. Transformed through a making process that is both considered and intuitive, new forms are given new functions as adornment. And when the pieces are worn.... the transformation continues” she said.
