{Suite} Gallery is pleased to present Fight or
Flight by Whanganui based artist Brit Bunkley, which
explores the idea of flight in its many possible guises.
Influenced by art house horror movies such as Lars Von
Trier's 'Antichrist' and Werner Herzog's
'Nosferatu the Vampire', the works in this exhibition
include a series of various winged sculptures suspended in
resin and pigment, and two of Bunkley's latest video works
'Paradox of Plenty' and 'Fight or Flight'.
Bunkley's art practice includes public art, sculpture, installation, the creation of “impossible” moving and still images and architecture designed using computer 3D modelling, video editing and image editing programs.
His recent international group exhibitions include Rencontres Internationales Paris/Berlin/Madrid at the Centre Pompidou and at the Reina Sofia National Museum, Madrid, Spain; The Haus der Kulturen der Welt, Berlin; Images Contre Nature 2011international festival of experimental video, Marseille, France and FILE 2011at the SESI' Cultural Centre Sao Paulo, Brazil. His latest commission Hear My Train in Whanganui was completed in April 2012.
Bunkley is represented in numerous international collections and has received several grants and fellowships. Most recently he was an award winner (for Paradox of Plenty) at the 2012 International Video Art Festival 'Now & After' staged at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.
