CQ Hotels Wellington to showcase More ROAR! art exhibition
CQ Hotels Wellington is partnering up with the capital’s ROAR! gallery and hosting a month long exhibition featuring artists from the capital’s Pablos Art Studios and other creative spaces throughout the country.
The Cuba Quarter Hotels Wellington has been made a Gold Member of the national Be.Accessible ogranisation for its commitment to being accessible and is a sponsor of the Big ‘A’ CQ Hotels Wellington Community Partnership Award, presented on July 18 by Arts Access Aotearoa at the Parliament.
The exhibition MORE ROAR! opens to the public on Tuesday 10 July and will feature at least 50 pieces of art created by 30 artists, the majority of which are from Wellington, who have faced obstacles and have had limited access to participate in the arts.
“We are proud to be getting on board with ROAR! gallery and hosting this exhibition which is a perfect fit with CQ Hotels Wellington philosophy of creativity, accessibility and community. We want to provide a space where members of the public can come in, admire the artwork and the amazing work creative spaces do in the community,” said Olivier Lacoua, General Manager of CQ Hotels Wellington.
“ROAR! gallery is delighted to join with CQ Hotels Wellington in the promotion of accessible art. This is a great opportunity for the artists that ROAR! gallery represents to reach new audiences,” said Stephanie Hall of ROAR! gallery.
ROAR! gallery, based at 189 Vivian Street, is a professional gallery and exhibition space funded by Pablos Art Studio that supports artists and exhibits artwork motivated by personal concerns and histories rather than work that operates within established traditions.
The exhibition is free to the public and will run until Sunday 5th August. The artworks will be showcased throughout the hotel lobby and restaurant space.
ROAR! gallery is a creative and focused environment, providing free access to materials, tuition and professional development. It is facilitated by tutors who are professionally qualified, practicing artists, with a wide range of art related experience.
CQ Hotels Wellington is a unique destination set in the vibrant heart of Wellington. It comprises a beautifully renovated heritage building, formally known as ‘The People's Palace’ or ‘Trekkers’, offering cost-effective 3.5 star accommodation (Comfort Hotel Wellington) and a contemporary 4.5 star hotel (Quality Hotel Wellington) offering spacious, luxurious suites with stylish kitchenettes.
