Sport Wellington added its congratulations to Lower Hutt runner and Olympian Nick Willis, named today as the flag bearer at tomorrow’s opening ceremony at the Olympic Games in London.
“Nick will feel as if he’s on the biggest podium of his life,” said Sport Wellington CEO Phil Gibbons today. “We are delighted with the choice and are sure Nick will walk tall as he leads members of the Kiwi team into London Stadium.
“Nick is always appreciative of support from grassroots level and quick to acknowledge the people around him who support and cheer him on,” says Phil.
“This is a great honour for Nick, his team and the Wellington Region.”
