Pye Shows Promise Ahead Of Home V8 Supercar Round

Pye Shows Promise Ahead Of Home V8 Supercar Round

For immediate release: 31st July, 2012.

V8 Supercar debutant Scott Pye is hopeful of a return to form at Queensland Raceway this weekend, a circuit he has turned countless laps at in testing trim.

The Triple Eight Race Engineering driver has managed the learning curve of visiting three new tracks in his Monster Energy/Gear Wrench Holden Commodore, and is eager to make his presence felt on home soil.

He left the last round in Townsville with a tenth place finish, and knows he is capable of clawing his way back to the front in the three Dunlop Series races this weekend.

"Queensland Raceway will be the first time this season that I will be racing at a circuit that I have competed at before,” Pye explained.

“Given our pace at past rounds where I have been a lot less experienced I feel very confident ahead of this weekend.

"Townsville was very disappointing, however I am just my third round in and to be heading into Round 4 looking at scoring more wins is well above the expectations that I set for myself at the start of the year,” he said.

With two 15-lap races and one 22-lap race to contest on the 3.12km circuit over the weekend, Pye is hoping his experience on the technical track will be enough of an advantage to take out a win.

"I believe we will have a better home track advantage over the interstate teams than in past years given the new track surface," the Adelaide-born driver continued.

"I have tested at Queensland Raceway three times and been very happy with our pace. Everyone at Triple Eight Race Engineering has done a fantastic job at bringing me up to speed in every aspect and I look forward to more strong results this.”
